If You're Wondering What's Happening, A Contractor
Told Me That They Are Upgrading The Infrastructure By
Putting A 30-Inch Water Transmission Line Inside The
Older Pipe. This Is Taking Place From Edwards And
Varsity To Varsity And Hallcroft. The Sidewalks
Should Be Reopened Soon For Your Use.
Recently, I Talked With A Nice City Public Works
Employee Taking Samples Of Our Ground Water Near
Central Park. He Said They Take Samples Weekly From
Numerous Sites And Send The Drinking Water To A Lab
For Analysis. Our Drinking Water, Thanks In Part To

Museum's New Exhibit, "Surf And Sounds Of The
Beach Boys" On Sunday April 1st. 2007. This Was Also

On Saturday, April 7th, 2007, I Volunteered At The
17th Annual Huntington Beach Easter Hunt At Central
Park Which Was Sponsored By The Kiwanis Club Of
Huntington Beach And The Community Services
Department. More Than 6,000 People Came To This
Event. It Was Such A Tremendous Success. I Want To
Personally Thank Dottie Hughes, Dennis Gallagher And
All Who Worked There. About 1,500 Pounds Of Candy
Was Displayed In The Field For The Children.
For Three Consecutive Tuesdays During This Month, I
Have Attended Surf City Nights In Downtown Huntington
Beach. This Takes Place On Tuesday Evenings Until May
22nd, 2007 From 5:00PM To 9:00PM In The 200 And 300
Blocks Of Main Street. It Features A Street Fair,
Farmer's Market, Downtown Merchant Displays,
Restaurants, Face Painters, A Cartoonist, The City
Of Huntington Beach Booth, A Bounce House And Train
For The Kids. You Even Get Two Hours Of Free Parking
In The 200 Main Street Parking Garage. At This
Tuesday's Previous Event, More Than 2,000 People
Came. It's Becoming A Huge Success. I Want To Thank
Connie Pedenko Who Is The Executive Director Of The
Event As Well As Jim Lamb In Economic Development
For Coordinating Things And Terry Tintle From
Public Works Who Is In Charge Of The Street
Markings. I'd Like To See This Event Continue. Please

In Downtown Huntington Beach, There's Going To Be A
Grand Opening Celebration. Come Meet Dean Torrence Of
Jan And Dean And Eat Catered Food From Mos Barbecue
While Shopping For Wonderful Household Items.
A Week From This Saturday, On April 28th, 2007 Is The
Second Annual Spring Festival At Shipley Nature
Center In Central Park. The day’s activities will
begin at 9am with a Continental Breakfast, a
California Native Plant Sale and the opening of the
nature friendly Information Fair. A wide variety of
community groups and businesses will be on hand to
share useful and informative materials.
At 10:30am Shipley volunteers will lead guided
tours through our California Native Plant Gardens
and describe the various plants that are located
there. Visitors can use the gardens to determine
what type of “drought tolerant” plants they can use
in their own yards to attract butterflies and
hummingbirds.
Entertainment will begin at 11:30am and will
continue until 1:30pm. At 11:30am Rainbow
Disposal will conduct a Recycling Program and
provide information of interest to all homeowners.
The day will wind up with a guided Habitat Tour
Through the nature center at 12:30pm. Visitors are
invited to explore Shipley’s Interpretive Center,
Nursery and the Compost/Vermiculture Center.
Shipley Nature Center is open for walking, birding
and enjoying the seasonal changes of nature. Become
a member of the Friends of Shipley Nature Center or
sign up to be a volunteer and help keep this
wonderful little corner of Huntington Beach
available to all.
The Impressive New Amphitheatre Has Been Completed
In Front Of The Interprative Center. Thank You To
All Who Created It.
There's Free Parking In The Shipley Parking Lot,
Monday through Saturday, 9:00 am to 1:00pm.

Going To Be Presenting A Public Forum Titled, "Bolsa
Chica Past, Present And Future." Dr. Jan
Vandersloot, a co-founder of the Land Trust, will
discuss the historical hydrology of the Upper Bolsa
Chica Wetlands. Louis Robles, Jr., a member of the
Acjachemem Nation, will share his cultural
traditions. Finally, Jeff Stoddard and Kelly
O'Reilly of the state Department of Fish and Game
will be explaining their new roles at the
Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve. The event begins at
7pm. Admission is free and refreshments will be
